- Staffordshire Moorlands MP

IT was absolutely fabulous to see so many Moorlanders out and about over the Jubilee weekend, celebrating Her Majesty The Queen’s 70-year reign.

I know just how much we were all looking forward to these celebrations and it was so good to see everyone enjoying themselves, in their gardens, in the streets, having fun together and celebrating the Jubilee.

The Moorlands was a sea of red, white and blue with flags and bunting everywhere as we joined people across the country to celebrate how proud we all are of our Queen.

For 70 years Her Majesty The Queen has been the ultimate symbol of what it means to be British and her steadfast leadership and unwavering service through good and bad has been an inspiration to so many.

Thank you therefore to local residents for organising and taking part in the many, many events across the Moorlands that made the celebrations so special.

I would also like to thank the children at Woodcroft Academy for the fantastic Platinum Jubilee artwork for my office window. It looks so good with the bunting and the Union Jacks – well done to all concerned.

As your MP, to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee, I was pleased to plant a tree in the Moorlands.

I joined other Staffordshire MPS in this initiative which means that all twelve Staffordshire constituencies will have a tree planted by their MP in honour of the Queen.

I was joined by the Deputy

Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire, Admiral Sir Trevor Soar to plant the tree outside Biddulph Town Council with the special shovel that has been used to plant other trees for this initiative.

These trees will form part of The Queen’s Green Canopy which is a unique initiative to increase the number of trees and woodland throughout the UK.
