Cheadle top of the pile after seeing off Newcastle & H

CHEADLE beat Newcastle & Hartshill to rack up six victories and now sit proudly at the top of the NSSCL Division Three table.

The Moorlander­s posted 135 all out in the formative stages of the afternoon as Craig Smith (31), Scott Harvey (27), Ben Degg (24) and Alfie Bonehill (21) all made handy contributi­ons.

Thomas Onions and Jack Wilson scooped 4-49 and 3-19 respective­ly, with Rob Hagan adding a couple of victims.

Wilson then made 15 after tea and George Hickman added 13, but Castle’s innings proved to be a forgettabl­e affair.

They were bundled out for 49 as Ben Degg claimed 5-14 and Matthew Degg kept up the pressure with 3-23.

Tom Saji hit the ton trail as Longton seconds won on their visit to bottomof-the-table Meakins.

Saji scored 125 not out, off just 119 balls, hitting 18 fours and four sixes as Longton posted 262-4 declared from 40 overs.

He put on 111 for the third wicket with Ryan Ellwell, who made a quickfire 71, which contained 11 fours and two sixes.

Euan Hurst also played his part with 32 as Longton made the most of batting first at Ivy House Road.

Tariq Mughal replied with a 44-ball 77, but Meakins were soon sent on their way to a sixth defeat in seven outings

Mughal;’s innings included 12 fours and four maximums, but Ashraf Ahmadzai’s 4-38, plus double strikes from Jacob Garlick and Awais Ahmed, skittled the home side for 120.

Rode Park & Lawton are in second pace, four points off the summit, after a comfortabl­e victory at Meir Heath.

A third-wicket stand of 133 between Scott Cheadle and Oliver Gallimore set the platform for Rode Park & Lawton to reach 212-4 from their 50 overs.

Cheadle hit nine fours and one six in his 74, while Gallimore’s unbeaten 61 contained six boundaries.

Richard Bebbington (22) and Jonathan Gallimore (20no) also chipped in to push the high-fliers past the 200-mark.

In reply, Mansoor Akhtar scored 52 and Zak Hill weighed in with 22, but four wickets apiece from Martin Dawson (4-18) and Neil Crump (419) left Meir Heath all out foro 112.

Hem Heath seconds are in third following a home win against their Eccleshall counterpar­ts.

Nazakat Ali top-scored with 87, hitting 13 fours, to form the backbone of Hem Heath’s 222-9. Muhammad Afzaal chipped in with 37, while Darren Plant contribute­d 29.

Dave Ecclestone took 6-41 for Eccleshall and then made 47 in his side’s run chase after tea.

Jake Derry, who took two wickets early on, added 28 not out, but Eccleshall were dismissed for 167.

Wasim Khan (4-30) and Matthew Rogerson (3-30) did the bulk of the damage.

Elworth seconds were in excellent form with the bat to win at home against Wedgwood.

Set 217 for victory, Elworth managed to cross the line with 13 balls remaining to chalk up a threewicke­t success.

Joe Seabridge’s 71 led the way, with Matthew Greasby (37), Tom Seabridge (43no) and Joe Hodson (26) also producing positive efforts.

Aaron Tymczuk and Usman Saleem picked up a couple of wickets for Wedgwood.

Wedgwood had earlier recovered from 77-5 to reach 216-6 from their allocation, largely thanks yo Faisal Mahmood’s 98 not out, which contained 11 fours and two sixes.

Ramzan Mohammed (42no) and Mckenzie Jones (30) also shone, while there were two wickets apiece for James Burnett, Mike Holt and Connor Flowers.

Hanford won on the road at Checkley seconds.

Adeel Mahmood’s 54 was backed up by Sibtain Haider Bukhari’s 40 and 39 from Adeel Khalid as Hanford reached 209 all out at the halfway stage. Richard Cooper captured 3-32.

In reply, Peter Appleboam (36), Cooper (33no), Alex Bennett (28), Brendan Lovatt (24) and Nick Hunt (20) kept the scoreboard ticking over for the home side.

However, Bukhari’s 3-40 and 3-27 from Khalid ensured that Checkley were dismissed for 160.

■ TONY Dutton’s all-round excellence ensured Bagnall Norton seconds pocketed the points at Silverdale in NSSCL Division Four.

Dutton, the Staffordsh­ire and England Over-50s player, dominated with bat and ball to ensure his side left Underwood Road with a relatively comfortabl­y win.

Bagnall Norton posted 198-5 from their 40 overs with Dutton leading the charge with 85, which included 10 fours.

Luke Morris lent valuable support with a rapid 51, featuring three fours and four sixes, while Chris White claimed a couple of victims for the home side.

David Moors replied with an unbeaten 62 after tea, with Reece White chipping in with 36.

However, it was Dutton’s day as the wily medium-pacer took 4-12 from his eight overs to restrict Silverdale to 125-8 at stumps.

It’s the two Moddershal­l & Oulton teams who are occupying the leading places after seven weeks of the season.

Both have six wins to their credit with the fourths at the summit after winning at home against Bignall End seconds.

Ishara Weerasingh­e struck 54 in the Modd men’s 173 all out, in which Zack Smith scooped 3-26 and there were doubles from Dave Quinton and Bhagesh Mishra.

Jamie Heath (22no) and Manazeer Ashan Nawaz (13) were the principal contributo­rs after the interval, but Bignall End were dismissed for 75.

Nishantha Jayakody snared 4-25 and there were two wickets for Tharuk Acharige.

Moddershal­l & Oulton thirds are five points behind their club-mates after a six-wicket home success against Crewe.

Crewe recovered from 58-6 to reach 169-7 from their allocation, thanks to a seventh-wicket stand of 88 between Sam Carney and Fergal Madden.

Onneley cruised to a nine-wicket win against Barlaston, who prop up the table having lost all seven matches.

Leek seconds made home advantage count to beat Audley.

Visitors Audley took first use and reached 167-8 from their 40 overs as Andrew Joynson top-scored with 39.

Kieran Carr’s 3-33 was the pick of the Leek bowling attack, with Ebony Tweats and Brad Grindey both striking twice. Damien Harvey (45), Tom Grindey (41) and Carr (27) were in fine fettle after tea as Leek crossed the line to bank a five-wicket win with more than three overs to spare.

Hem Heath thirds edged out Porthill Park 3rd XI by 10 runs.
