Town team thrashed at home in huge top of the table clash

-

GARY Taylor-fletcher’s AFC Crewe ran out easy winners in the top of the table clash of the Staffordshire County Senior League Men Unite first division.

They kicked off the weekend with a 5-0 win against Leek Town Development at the home of the Northern Premier League West Division runaway leaders.

A hat-trick from Cole Ojungu and strikes from Brandon Mighten and Ross Avies enabled the side managed by the well travelled striker to open a four-point lead at the summit of division one.

In the Premier Division on Saturday, Redgate Clayton edged nearer to the title after they edged out second-placed AFC Alsager 1- 0 at Northwood Lane thanks to a 57th minute Dan Holdcroft goal.

Talented AFC Alsager starlet Fin Pattison had previously been dismissed leaving Kieran Mear’s men without one of their potential game-changing players.

Foley Meir regained third place following a 9- 2 demolition of James Lloyd’s Lichfield City Casuals in a game played at Roe Lane on the 3G surface.

Skipper Tom Wakefield netted a hat-trick with Lewis Dodd adding a brace. New boy Jimmy Garlick was also on target alongside Ben Hewitt, Tristan Barker and Aiden Lloyd.wayne Smith’s fourth-placed Kidsgrove side lost 2-1 to former champions Wolstanton in the game at Hollingwood Road.

Liam Shaw netted for Wolstanton in the 34th minute with former Silverdale man Dom Thorley scoring an 89th minute penalty to seemingly secure a two-goal margin but Grove forward Serkari Ahmadi pulled a goal back in the 90th minute.

Smith’s men than had two goalbound efforts blocked with Serkari then dismissed for an altercation with a Wolstanton defender.

Visitors Audley got off to a flier when a 25-yard strike from Jake Peake gave host’s Silverdale keeper Joe Gibbs no chance as the ball flew into the top corner of the net after four minutes.

Allan Davies’ Dale then steadied themselves and played their way back into the game when Macauley Davies followed up to score when Audley goalkeeper Luke Jones could only parry a goal-bound effort in the 20th minute.

The tempo of the second half increased however on the hour mark Silverdale were reduced to ten-men after a defender was dismissed for abusive language to a match official.

Audley then seized the initiative and pinned the hosts back into their own half but a mixture of superb saves from keeper Gibbs and some herculean defending from Matt Ball kept the visitors at bay.

Madeley White Star shared the spoils with Ball Haye Green when the sides drew one-all at Manor Road. Jordan Hewitt gave Chris Holmes’ hosts the lead on 58 minutes only

to see that advantage cancelled out seven minutes later when Alex Cimino equalised for Dave Bailey’s Leek-based outfit.

It was goalless at Hillfields where hosts Ashbourne could not overcome visitors Leek CSOB. The draw for the visiting Old Boys arrested a run of three successive defeats.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, FC41 ran out victors in the Milton-derby when they beat close neighbours Milton Utd 3- 1 at Northwood Stadium.

FC41 leap-frogged rivals Milton Utd who now find themselves bottom of the table. After a two-all draw in regulation time, Audley Reserves finally overcame visitors Newcastle Town 4-2 on penalties to secure a place in the semi-finals of

the President’s Trophy. Earlier in the game Audley had Aaron Evans and Matt Heler on the scoresheet.

Over at Evans Park in Stafford, hosts Stafford Town thumped Tom Lloyd’s Cresswell Wanderers 7-1 to progress into the last four.

Dan Rotherham hit a hat-trick while Ashley Plant, Sean Kinsella, Joe Bancroft and Korey Brough were also on target.

in a much postponed game, Craig Shepherd’s City of Stoke side from Division 1 knocked out Jon Bould’s Three Spires Utd with a 3- 1 scoreline at Whisper Lane to progress into the third roundof the Leek Cup. Jake Regan netted a brace, a goal either side of a Thomas-jay Martin Carl Hughes goal.

Swadlincote-based Newhall Utd,

big hitters in this season’s Division 2 South easily dispatched Audley Development with a 7- 0 home victory at The Gables.

In another double-header brought about by the recent inclement weather, Milton United defeated Ball Haye Green Reserves twice at The Hardman Centre in Men Unite Division two north.

Firstly 4-2 when Thomas and Harley Shaw scored a brace apiece for Milton with Callum Davies bagging a double for Green. Secondly, Milton won 3-1 with Oxford again netting twice and Shaw again on target. Ball Haye Green’s scorer was again Callum Davies.

The double-victory leaves Milton Utd Reserves second in the table, level on points with AFC Alsager

Reserves but with four games in hand. Elsewhere in Division Two North, Florence Reserves were held to a two-all draw at home against Ben Cook’s rock-botton Staffordshire Victoria while Keele University Reserves ran out 3-1 victors over hosts FC41 Reserves at Northwood Stadium.

Division Two North South Cheshire side AFC Alsager Reserves beat Division 1 side Warstones Wanderers with a 5- 1 win in the Macron Cup group stages. Callum Leese and Nikhil Cleary had given Alsager a 2-1 half-time advantage.

But in the second half the hosts scored three more courtesy of a second from Leese and the remaining two from Jake Walker and Elliot Pettitt.
