■ BAR SELLING OFF MUSIC MEMORABILIA
MEMORABILIA AMONG GOODS GOING AS SHED HAS CLEAR-OUT, RAISES CASH
A WELL-known Leicester venue is about to hold a “Bar Boot Sale” featuring music memorabilia.
A photo from Kasabian’s first gig, a signed guitar from McFly and a signed Ellie Goulding poster – plus her guitar strings – are some of the items that will be up for grabs at the event being held at Leicester live music venue The Shed.
The Bar Boot Sale will take place from 11am on Saturday, at the Yeoman Street venue, pictured.
According to The Shed owner Elisabeth Carley-Leonard, the reason for the sale is two-fold.
“It’s firstly to have a big clear-out and clean, which we’ve never had time to do before, and secondly to get a muchneeded cash injection to get us through whatever comes next,” she told the Mercury.
Like other similar venues, The Shed – which first opened in 1994 and hosted early career appearances by bands including Kasabian, the Arctic Monkeys and Ellie Goulding – has been closed since March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Elisabeth, who took over the venue in 2017 when it was at risk of demolition, says there is a whole host of treasures members of the public will be able to get their hands on – ranging from musical equipment and memorabilia, to cut-price refreshments and glassware.
In the run-up to the event there will be a list of items published, where you will able to pre-buy items and collect them on the day at a pre-arranged time.
For some items, there will be a fixed price, and for other items, such as the memorabilia mentioned above, offers will be invited.
If you’d like to have a browse, you can pre-book a slot to visit on Saturday. Slots are 30 minutes long on the hour and at half past the hour.
