Chippy ‘mayhem’ after man injured
10 POLICE VEHICLES RUSH TO SCENE
A MAN has been rushed to hospital after reports of an assault close to a Leicester chip shop.
Emergency services were called to the scene, in Buckminster Road, shortly before 5pm on Saturday.
According to witnesses, there were at least 10 police vehicles and an ambulance – causing “mayhem” in the area.
Officers had cordoned off the street outside Bucks Chippy and were seen searching the driveway of a nearby property.
A car was also the subject of a search.
Three people have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and affray. Leicestershire Police confirmed a man has been taken to hospital following the incident, where he remains.
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A spokesman said: “Officers were called to Buckminster Road, Leicester, just before 4.50pm on Saturday, September 26 following a report of an assault.
“A man was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
“Three men were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and affray. Inquiries are continuing into the incident.”
Adam Ward was driving along
Buckminster Road at around 5.10pm when he noticed a “massive police presence”.
He told the Mercury: “There must have been 10-plus police cars scattered around the street, including an ambulance, one was going as we were coming up to it.
“A house right next to Bucks Chippy is cornered off from Bucks Chippy all the way around the street, with the police looking on the driveway of the house.
“They were also taking a lot of witness statements out on the street.”
Adam described the sight as “crazy” and “mayhem”.
