Put our wants on hold to get normal life back

-

WHY is it that the most people think Boris Johnson and Matt Hancock are to blame for lockdowns and restrictions?

They are government officials. They are not trained scientists, they have to rely on the correct advice coming from the scientists employed by the health authorities and no matter who is in government the same scientists would have been used, so enough of apportioning blame in an unprecedented pandemic.

I am sure each and every other country is having the same problems as we are. When we are suffering we try to find someone to blame.

I saw in today’s newspaper one football chief complaining people can go in pubs but not into stadiums.

He must realise the difference between maybe 30 to 40 in a pub, 200 to 300 watching a match or, in the case of the larger clubs, 20,000 to 60,000.

It is not exactly brain surgery to work out the percentage of risks in each case.

We all want our normal lives back; me because I am quite elderly, the younger people because they want what I have had in the past and more, which is only natural – I wanted more than what my parents had – but now we have to put on hold our wants and needs and concentrate on obeying rules and killing this virus off for all time.

Then we can once again start making plans to do things which we know won’t have to be cancelled.

We must stop looking at what other people are doing, like disregarding rules.

Come on, the people of Leicestershire, you know it can be done and I will be with you all the way. Thank you one and all.
