A CAT that went missing after jumping into the back of a van has been reunited with its owners.

Mo was caught on CCTV jumping into the back of a Parcelforce van in Rothley on September 10.

It was not until later that day, when they reviewed their CCTV footage, that his owners realised he was missing.

Now, after almost two weeks of pleas on social media and searching the streets, Mo has been found.

Owner Hannah Perry said: “I wasn’t myself for the two weeks, I was completely derailed.

“We were just about to go out and have a look for Mo because we had seen an article that said after two weeks there’s a 50 per cent chance of finding him.

“I was just about to walk out of the door and I was contacted by the loveliest lady saying that her mum might have got him.”

Hannah said the woman who contacted her had seen her post on the Spotted Rothley Facebook page.

“She messaged me some photos of him,” Hannah said.

“I’d had so many people send me pictures you find yourself analysing them knowing it really isn’t your cat. But as soon as I opened these pictures, it was him and I couldn’t believe my eyes.”

Mo had made himself at home with a woman in Rothley who owned another cat and a dog.

When he got home, Hannah said Mo had a sniff around and began purring. Hannah thanked everyone who helped to share her posts on social media.

“We had put posters up everywhere, but we had received no feedback,” she said.

“But with social media, it spurred us on a bit and kept us going when people shared and commented.

“All those people have contributed and it’s wonderful. They’ve all kept him alive by talking about him.

“People could have looked at it as just a cat, but people actually got that he is part of my family.

“The kids were in bed when we brought him back. So this morning we brought him out and they were just delighted and our youngest was running up and down the hallway shouting. It was just like Christmas.”

Mo has been taken to the vets and, apart from one tick, has been given the all-clear.
