A DOG who refuses to move when it’s time to go home and lies on the pavement looking injured has become a local internet star.

Fidget, a two-year-old miniature English bull terrier, has been causing a stir among her neighbours in Hinckley by spreading out on the pavement at home time.

Her owner, 35-year-old Sharon Harland, took to social media to reassure her neighbours after someone pulled over to ask if her dog was okay.

Sharon said: “Someone pulled over and asked if I needed a lift to the vets.

“I said I appreciated the concern, but she was fine.

“I often see people slow down and look at her.

“After that, I put a post on the Hinckley Facebook group to make sure people knew she wasn’t injured or mistreated.”

The post had more of an effect than she was expecting and has been liked almost 2,000 times by members, and has hundreds of comments.

Sharon, who runs a dog grooming salon at home, said: “To me, she’s just a pest when I’ve got to get home in the morning and get to work.

“I can see why people find it funny - I think it’s great, but I need to get home!”

Sharon remembered one instance in which Fidget lay down in the middle of a field when she knew it was time to go home, and would not move.

Sharon added: “She is normally crazy, but when she doesn’t want to come home, she just puts on the brakes.

“She only started doing it about a year ago.”

Despite her rascally nature, Fidget is a much-loved family pet, along with Sharon’s other three dogs - a pocket American bulldog and two French bulldogs - particularly by Sharon’s son Chaise, 10.

She said: “My husband gets annoyed with her, because she’s always up to no good, but my little boy thinks she’s hilarious.”

One of the comments on Sharon’s Facebook post read: “Proper belly laughed at that, as a furbaby owner too I do love their character!” Another said: “Oh bless, from one dog owner to another I feel your pain but this post is hilarious and did make me smile this morning, thanks for sharing.” Sharon has now created a Facebook page called “Fidget’s Shenanigans” to please her army of fans online.
