Pub closes after staff member tests positive for coronavirus

-

A PUB has temporarily closed after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

The Real Ale Classroom, in Stoneygate, has closed its doors to customers for the time being.

The micropub, in Allandale Road, is one of two Real Ale Classrooms. The Lutterworth classroom remains open.

The owners posted a statement on the Leicester micropub’s Facebook page on Wednesday explaining the situation.

It said: “Unfortunately, one of our staff has tested positive on Monday for Covid. We have therefore decided to close the Leicester Classroom for now.

“We will reopen just as soon as we are fully reassured it is safe to do so for our staff and customers whose safety is our priority.

“We have taken Covid prevention very serious from the start and followed all safety precautions by keeping to social distancing, wearing a face covering and sanitising regularly.

“Other staff who worked with the person are self-isolating as a precaution. We have been in contact with Public Health England and while it’s our decision on whether to open the pub or not we have decided it’s in the best interests and safety of staff and customers that we remain closed for now.

“We have had the pub deep cleaned and disinfected.

“Sorry for any inconvenience and/or worry but we are very confident that any contact with customers was safe.

“The NHS Covid app will alert you if you are perceived to be at risk. We will update you if we receive any further information.”
