ENSLAVED WITH SAMUEL L JACKSON

Tomorrow, BBC2, 9pm

IT’S Black History Month and we’re about to see a plethora of programmes linked to it hit our screens.

This fascinating, moving, disturbing and upsetting documentary tells the terrifying story of some of the 12 million Africans who were enslaved by European traders and shipped against their will to the Americas over 400 years. Two million of them died en route due

to the hideous conditions in which they were kept.

Samuel L Jackson fronts the series, which uses 3D mapping and new diving technology to find and reconstruct the boats.

Drama, artefacts and science, as well as personal testimony, are also used to highlight a dark period in history.

ADULT MATERIAL Monday, Channel 4, 10pm

MOST of us have probably been to parties that haven’t ended in the way we expected, but hopefully few of them turned out quite like Carroll’s.

He and Jolene are left picking up the pieces – literally, in some cases – while

trying to control any fall-out, something that won’t be easy now that Tom is in hospital and Amy is at the police station.

Jolene then makes a decision she may live to regret.

THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF

Tuesday, Channel 4, 8pm

IT’S chocolate week in the tent and at least one of the bakers is about to come unstuck. There’s a deceptively simple signature in the form of a traybake. Then, the hopefuls take a peek under the blue gingham tea towels where they find the ingredients for a technical packed full of chocolate and nuts. Finally, the bakers’ skills of patience and

precision are pushed to the limit with a celebration showstopper that involves white chocolate.

NADIYA BAKES Wednesday, BBC2, 8.30pm

NADIYA HUSSAIN looks at recipes that can be rustled up on a budget, including a potato rosti quiche, which is a great way to make the most of leftovers. She also explains why home-baked bread offers value for money, shows how to turn a few store cupboard staples into rhubarb and custard biscuits, and makes an indulgent, but thrifty, chocolate fondant.

THE TRUMP SHOW

Thursday, BBC2, 9pm

THIS new series looks at how Donald Trump brought the

persona he had honed as a businessman and reality TV star to the White House. The opening episode focuses on his first 18 months, featuring insights from key players, including Steve Bannon, Omarosa Manigault Newman, Anthony Scaramucci and Sean Spicer. The latter was involved in one of the episodes that arguably set the tone for

Trump’s fraught relationship with the Press when he defended the President over reports of a disappointing turnout for the inauguration.

SIR CLIFF RICHARD AT THE BBC

Friday, BBC4, 9.50pm

HE’S been called the Peter Pan of Pop, but Cliff Richard is now officially all grown-up – he turns 80 on October 14. There’s a chance to remind ourselves just how long and varied his career has really been as the BBC pays tribute, starting with the movie Summer Holiday (8pm) and continuing with this look back through the Beeb’s archives, while Rock ‘n’ Roll Britannia (10.50pm) puts his early records into the context of the UK’s first rock acts.
