Full-back returns to Vale for third spell

-

LEICESTER City full-back Mitch Clark has rejoined League Two side Port Vale on loan until January, writes Amie Wilson.

The 21-year-old spent the 2018/19 season on loan with the club, and also returned for the second half of last season.

He has played 49 times for the club during the loan spells, and Vale were eager to make a move for the defender after injury problems in the full-back area.

Clark has been at City since 2019, after joining the U23 team from Aston Villa.

He has made 24 appearances for the U23 side, scoring his only goal in the 2-0 win over Manchester United in September.

Clark did find his game time limited when he first arrived back at Port Vale for the second time and was shown a red in just his third appearance.

However, he impressed in the appearances he made, prompting Vale to sign him again.

Clark will be looking to make his first appearance of his third spell at the club when Vale host Carlisle in League Two this afternoon (3pm kick-off).

“It feels good to be back, it’s my third spell so I’m used to the lads and used to the atmosphere around the training ground and looking forward to it,” Clark told the Port Vale website after completing the move.

“With the lads out [through injury], I’m looking to step in and fill the spot and keep up the good work the team have been doing.

“When you get a sniff of playing league football you don’t want to stop.

“I want to be playing league football, it’s as simple as that, and it’s my goal to get as high as possible in my career.”
