County people awarded a Queen’s Birthday Honour

MEDICS, police officers, teachers and community volunteers from Leicesters­hire were among those to have been recognised by The Queen in her Birthday Honours list.

The choice of people on the honour’s list has been shaped largely by their response to and efforts during the coronaviru­s pandemic with the announceme­nt being delayed until now because of the Covid-19 crisis.

Staff from the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and Leicesters­hire Police feature on the list alongside figures from industry and those who have made a difference in their communitie­s.

The Mercury reported on some of the winners on Saturday, but the list also includes the following:

OFFICERS OF THE ORDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE (OBE)
