“From across the worlds of sport, music, culture and business, the East Midlands has a proud heritage of black role models whose impact has been felt beyond the region – from Viv Anderson becoming the first black footballer to represent England, to the cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason becoming the first black person to win the BBC Young Musician award, and then performing at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

“There are many more examples of inspiring success stories among these communities, and we invite people from across the East Midlands to join us in this celebration, while looking out for some of the exciting activities you can take part in.”
