I wish people would just follow the simple rules

-

AS well as releasing new cases of corornavirus, it would be great if the government could also release the number of new cases which come from households and their support bubble with existing cases in the previous 14 days.

This would be useful because if the cases from households with existing cases means the cases are spreading within households, and not through newer households, it would mean the virus is more contained in a way.

Also I do wonder if people know that if a member of the household tests positive, then:

■ The infected person must stay away from the others;

Ideally live in one room where they can sleep and eat away from others;

■ Ideally use a separate bathroom, or clean the sole bathroom throughly afterwards;

■ And if anyone needs to attend to them, to wear a mask then wash hands afterwards.

I understand that many households don’t have the luxury of being able to do some of these.

Another thing is, if your child’s school bubble has to self-isolate due to positive cases, then that means they do not leave the home.

I work for an essential retailer and colleagues have seen kids with their parents at the shop when they should been isolating.

They know this as they have grandchildren, nieces/nephews in those very same bubbles that are self-isolating. This makes me and my colleagues mad.

If these people are unable to get shopping, get someone to buy the shopping for them and leave it at their front door.

One final point – my brother visited a McDonald’s just before the start of the second lockdown.

He saw a boy there, eating a meal with his dad. The boy’s entire year should have been isolating – I know this for a fact as he is the year below my brother’s daughter at the same school.

And this particular McDonald’s has a drive-through, so the boy could easily have had his Happy Meal as the boy’s father does have a car. Come on people, please follow the rules!
