Head pro’s exciting project for golf club

JAMIESON ALSO TO LAUNCH OWN JUNIOR TOUR

- By JEN PRENTICE

KEGAN Jamieson was appointed head professional at Market Harborough GC, one of the oldest clubs in the county, nearly three years ago.

Since then, his coaching services at the club have blossomed and strengthened.

Not only is he in keen demand for teaching members and visitors of all ages, he is also set to launch his own junior playing tour next season.

He had planned to do this in the last few months, but the lockdown and restrictions due to the pandemic meant it was delayed.

It will now start with a full programme of events during 2021.

Jamieson said: “The enforced delay has given myself and my team longer to formulate our ideas and plans for the new tour, so hopefully it will get off to a fast and successful start.”

In the time he has been at the club, a practice area with targets has been installed at Market Harborough.

There is also an indoor simulator with all the latest technology and training aids.

More recently, KJ Golf has invested in Foresight GCQuad technology, costing more than £18,000, in order to improve further the practice and coaching facilities and therefore the value of membership at Market Harborough GC.

But Jamieson said that “further investment is required” and he has outlined his exciting plans for the future.

He explained: “We are looking to significantly improve both the simulator studio and outdoor practice areas.

“A new teaching swing studio will be built and a shelter will be installed to cover the current driving range facility.

“Both of these outlined amenities will be branded by KJ Golf’s main supplier PING.

“I want to thank every member and customer who uses the pro shop here because this has really helped us to build strong relationships with this brand.

“The studio will be branded and the outdoor practice area will be branded as a Ping wedge fitting area.

“Hopefully everyone will agree that this will greatly boost all our facilities and services available to all members and visitors.”

Jamieson added: “This will also help with the issue over the 1st and 4th holes on the course.

“We would like to promote the area as a short game area and wedge fitting area and not really as a traditional driving range.

“If people wish to hit their driver then they can still do so, but only if it is safe.

“Alternatively, the simulator will be available for hire and/or lessons with the use of the GCQuad technology.

“By having these proposed facilities to use throughout the year it would obviously ensure people are still coming along to the club.

“It also means private tuition and the group coaching academy sessions can continue for juniors, ladies and men during the winter months.

“These are structured pathway programmes for Market Harborough GC members.”

Jamieson said there are sponsorship opportunities available to help bring this project to fruition as soon as possible.

He said: “I have already received some serious interest, so that is very encouraging.

“Sponsors can be involved with the wedge area, or be the main sponsor for that facility with a large logo on the sign and details on the website, as well as a logo on every range ball.

“A main studio sponsor will also be very welcome, including a large sign on the building, on the practice area sign, and details on the website.

“All sponsors will receive a discount on both these new proposed facilities, lessons and shop stock – in store and ordered items.

“So it is a great way to promote a sponsor’s own business and save on improving their golf.

“The sponsorship deal can be over one, three or five years, depending on the level of the amount paid. This is an exciting new opportunity and I should love to hear from anyone interested.”
