MURDER INQUIRY AFTER MAN, 51, STABBED
TWO HELD FOLLOWING DISCOVERY OF BODY
A MURDER investigation has been launched after the body of a man was found in a Leicester flat.
Officers who went to the property in Fosse Road North on Friday morning discovered the 51-year-old, who had suffered a single stab wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. A knife has been recovered from the property.
A man and a woman, both 29 and from Leicester, were arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody.
Detective Inspector Kenny Henry said yesterday: “Our inquiries are very much continuing and officers remain in the area carrying out house-to-house inquiries, speaking to witnesses and checking on CCTV.”
DETECTIVES have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed in the chest.
Officers were called to a flat in a terraced home in Fosse Road North, Leicester, after concerns were raised about the welfare of a man.
When they arrived on Friday morning they discovered the body of the 51-year-old, who had suffered a single stab wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and a later post-mortem examination showed it was the knife wound that caused his death.
A knife has been recovered from the property which is a short distance from the junction with Groby Road.
The property was still cordoned off yesterday afternoon and an officer remained at the scene.
Police have yet to release the identity of the victim.
A man, aged 29, of Leicester, and a woman, also aged 29, of Leicester, were arrested on suspicion of murder.
They both remain in police custody.
The two people arrested were known to the deceased, a police spokesman.
Krystof Kowalckyk, 38, who lives off Fosse Road North, said: “This is not a nice thing to happen.
“It worries me. This is not the greatest part of the town but there is not much violence.
“I feel very sorry for the man who has died. It is horrible.”
Another person who lives nearby said: “The police were all over the house on Friday.
“They’ve been knocking on doors trying to get footage of people coming and going and going to the nearby shops.”

“We continue to appeal to anyone who has any information in relation to the incident, and who has not yet spoken to police, to make contact with us.
“Were you in the area of Fosse Road North during the early hours of Friday or later on during the morning?
“Did you see or hear anything which caused you any concern?
“Do you have any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area which may be able to assist our investigation?
“If you have any information at all which you think could help us, I urge you to get in touch with us.”
