Amazon delivers for city hospitals charity

-

A CHARITY that supports hospitals in Leicester has received a £1,000 donation from Amazon in Coalville.

Leicester Hospitals Charity manages fundraising events and campaigns for University Hospitals of Leicester.

Funds raised by the charity improve patient areas and aid investment in new equipment to diagnose and treat patients.

The donation will go towards helping to provide additional rest areas and refreshments for staff, as well as small gestures for patients to help make their stay in hospitals more comfortable, such as discharge packs to help ease patients’ return to home under lockdown.

Speaking about the donation, Martin Cox, general manager at Amazon in Coalville, said: “We’re lucky to have a great health service that does so much to support patients. We’re glad we can show our support to the dedicated staff by lending a helping hand with this donation.”

Lisa Davies, director of Leicester Hospitals Charity, said: “On behalf of everyone at Leicester Hospitals Charity, I want to say thank you to Martin and the team from Amazon.

“Donations such as this help us to continue to support the staff and patients at our hospitals.”

Leicester Hospitals Charity received the donation as part of the “Amazon in the Community” programme, whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Community donations are one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during Covid-19.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering 1.4 million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
