‘MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY’: Scruffy, Sausage and Hazel, who have been stolen from their home in Melton

A FAMILY have been left devastated after three of their pet dogs were stolen from their home.

The Williams family say two dachshunds and a Jack Russell were taken from their small-holding in Melton.

The dogs – a five-year-old dachshund called Sausage, a two-year-old dachshund called Hazel and a twoyear-old Jack Russell called Scruffy, were taken some time between Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Joss Williams said: “There were five dogs all together in a horse stables overnight.

“They just took three bitches. “The dogs would have normally been in the house, but mum is moving and is organising a lot of stuff.

“She went out there to let them out just before 8am (December 8) and saw Sausage, Scruffy and Hazel had been taken.

“Sausage dogs are so popular these days and everyone loves a Jack Russell.

“I think they have been stolen to order because why would they leave the other two – a Pug and a border terrier?

“They are like members of the family and we are all devastated. We are desperate to get them back.”

A Facebook site called “Find 3 dogs stolen Melton Mowbray” has been set up by a local member of the national volunteer group Harvey’s Army, which helps people find lost or stolen pets.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: “We received a call on the morning of Tuesday, December 8, reporting that three dogs had been stolen from a property in Kirkby Lane, Melton Mowbray.

“The incident is believed to have happened between 9.30pm on Monday 7 December and 7.30am on Tuesday 8 December.

“Anyone with any information should contact 101 quoting incident number 20*647728.”
