Heartbreak as family pets stolen

-

A SIX-year-old girl is so upset and ill she had to be kept off school after thieves stole two of her family’s pet dogs.

Mum Rebecca Gee said daughter Grace is so heartbroken she can’t sleep and is not eating properly.

“This has broken her little heart,” said Rebecca, of Ellistown, near Coalville.

“The two dogs Ruby and Zac were her best fiends. She grew up with both of them.”

This theft comes just four months after another of their pet dogs – Duke, a four-year-old black working cocker spaniel – was stolen.

Rebecca said that Ruby, a threeyear-old black working cocker spaniel, and Zac, a one-year-old red working cocker spaniel, were taken from the family’s back garden at about 5.30pm on December 9.

“We got home from work and put the dogs out as we normally do,” she said.

“Ten minutes later when I went to call them in, they were nowhere to be seen.

“They had been taken in that very short window of opportunity.

“I think that someone might have been watching our house.”

Rebecca and husband Alex are desperate to get the pets back.

“They are a massive part of our family,” she said.

“We have had them since they were little pups.

“Grace loves them. She misses them so, so much.

“She understands that they have gone but wants to know when they are coming back so she can stop being so sad.

“Duke was stolen in exactly the same way as Ruby and Zac. We have not see him since.

“It is awful. We are all devastated.”

A police spokesperson said: “Zak and Ruby are cocker spaniels that were stolen from Ellistown on December 9.

“If you have any information at all about these two dogs, please get in touch.

“These are part of someone’s family. It would be lovely to get them reunited for Christmas.”

Anyone with information about the dogs should contact police on 101, or phone the confidential and free Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111.
