STAFF from a firm of insurance brokers have recorded a charity Christmas song.

The track, It’s Christmas (Santa’s on his way), was recorded and produced free at Mark Morrison’s citycentre studio in October.

The video was filmed at Winstanley House, in Braunstone Park.

The record, the idea of BHIB Insurance Brokers, will support Leicestershire charity Hope Against Cancer.

BHIB’s Tommy Reid and Sam Holden managed to persuade 10 of their network contacts to join them in recording the track.

Tommy said: “I called on a network of business owners to come together to try to add some fun and joy to what has been a very challenging year.

“They all gave up their busy time to record and more time for the video.

“I approached Mark Morrison and his new MackLife Studio team to help record it and they went over and above in supporting us.

“We were supplied with a highly experienced vocal producer, which was definitely needed.

“We believe this song is fun, relevant and would love to get it exposure to help raise more money for our beloved Hope Against Cancer.”

Also featuring on the track are: Byron Dixon, of Microfresh Limited; Pete Simpson, of MME Limited; Gurbinder Singh, of BGS Accountants; Gavin Dilkes, of Synergy Personnel Limited; Jo Peters, of JSP Virtual Limited; Satwinder Sidhu, of Paradigm Wills Limited; Steph Beeston-Clarke of Beeston-Clarke Management Solutions; Tracey Hallam, of Hope Against Cancer; and Martin Stack, of DJ Skillmaster.

Hope Against Cancer funds research across Leicestershire and Rutland. Its latest £1.5 million appeal would allow it to double the size of its clinical trials facility.

Morrison has made plans to have the tune released every Christmas for the next five years, with a new artist featuring each time.

He said: “This is another great thing to come out of the MackLife project.

“Primarily this was for young people to get them off the streets and away from knife crime.

“But when Tommy came to us I couldn’t refuse and I had to sign it to the MackLife label.

“We’re aiming for the top 40 and if we don’t get in this year we’ll try again next year and the year after that.

“This is the most important record I have ever been involved with. I have lost people to cancer, I want a cure to cancer.”

Hope Against Cancer chief executive Nigel Rose said: “I can hardly find the words to express how delighted we are with the song and how grateful we are to BHIB and networking colleagues for getting this off the ground.

“And of course, Mark Morrison, who has catapulted the whole venture to another level completely.”
