A BURGLAR went on a three-month crime spree across Leicester, breaking into three homes and stealing two cars and two bank cards.

Jamie Dunckley took two of the vehicles during burglaries and then bought items on the stolen cards before trying to burgle another property between January and March.

The 31-year-old pleaded not guilty at Leicester Crown Court on Wednesday to a number of charges but was found guilty after a trial.

Dunckley, whose address was given as HMP Leicester, was found guilty of:

■ Burglary of a home in Luther Street, Westcotes, on January 27;

■ Two counts of fraud by false representation on January 27 and one on January 28 when he bought items with the card stolen in the burglary;

■ Theft from a vehicle in Dunster Street, on January 30;

■ Fraud by false representation on January 30 when he made a purchase with a stolen bank card;

■ Attempted burglary of a home in Glenfield Road, Dane Hills, on February 1;

■ Burglary of a home in Ibbetson Avenue, Braunstone Frith, on March 10;

■ Theft of a vehicle on March 10 after he stole the car keys and a car in the Ibbetson Avenue burglary;

■ Burglary of a home in Gipsy Road, Belgrave, on March 27;

■ Theft of another vehicle on March 27 after he stole the car keys and car in the Gipsy Road burglary;

■ Driving while disqualified on March 27 for driving the stolen car;

■ Four counts of fraud by false representation on March 27 after buying items with the bank cards stolen in the Gipsy Road burglary.

Detective Constable Andrew Ilnicki, who investigated one of the burglaries, said: “Dunkley is a prolific offender who thought nothing of burgling a number of homes and stealing bank cards to use fraudulently over a period of three months.

“Through our investigation, we managed to obtain CCTV footage of Dunkley, linking him to many of these offences.

“I am pleased the jury saw through Dunkley’s denial and I hope his time in prison serves as some justice to his victims and those people who are deeply affected by such crimes.”

Dunckley was jailed for four years.
