BRENDAN Rodgers will block out the noise as agents “warm up” ahead of the January transfer window.

The Leicester City boss has said he pays no attention to players’ representatives and what they say about their clients, with his focus on coaching his squad.

Rodgers made his comments after Youri Tielemans’ agent Peter Smeets told Belgian media there are lots of clubs interested in the midfielder, who has dreams of winning trophies at the highest level.

The 23-year-old has been a key player for City this season, and ranks among the best progressive passers in the Premier League, a stat that may attract the attention of higherprofile clubs.

However, Rodgers insists Tielemans is enjoying himself at City. “You see those stories around this time,” said Rodgers. “The agents are just starting to warm up and get a few stories out. I’m sure in Youri’s case it’s not different.

“He’s a very talented player and he’s been a fantastic player for us in the time he’s been here. Until anything changes, until my very last day, I’ll continue to work with him and help him improve.

“He’s a real joy to work with, a fantastic boy who loves football, and who prepares his life to be the best he can be.

“He’s still so young but has achieved so much. He’s a very hungry player and wants to continue to improve and he’s doing that here.

“Whatever happens beyond that, outside of that, I’m not interested in that. My job is to influence him as a player, to help him be better.

“At this moment in time, he’s enjoying his football.”

Tielemans became City’s record signing after arriving from Monaco for £32 million in the summer of 2019, when he was also linked to Manchester United.

He has played every minute of the Premier League campaign so far, and has only missed one of the club’s Europa League fixtures.
