Can anyone illuminate us about lights in the sky?

SNAPPER SAYS THEY’RE NOT PLANE OR DRONE...

A TRIANGLE of lights seen in the sky above Leicester seem to resemble either an aeroplane or a drone - but the man who captured them on camera believes they were moving too strangely in the sky for them to be either type of aircraft.

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, was driving along Catherine Street, in Belgrave, when he spotted the lights moving overhead on Saturday, December 12, at about 4.55pm.

While most people would have dismissed them as either a plane or a drone, the baffled driver believes the simple explanation does not explain what he saw.

He said: “I looked up through our panoramic roof and saw a triangle thing floating above our car with three lights on each corner.

“It immediately caught my eye, and from the bottom of the street all the way into town, this triangle thing followed our direction but constantly travelling in a circular motion.

“At one point it would be on the right of our car, then above it, then to the left of our car, then behind it and then in front of it. It was travelling in counter-clockwise circles. It seemed to get bigger and smaller, too.”

The lights continued to fly in a circle over the city, according to the witness, before it was lost from sight after it flew over St Matthew’s.

He said: “Planes fly in straight lines, right? I dare you to tell me this is a drone. Absolutely no noise came from it either.”

He said he would be surprised if more people had not seen it and wondered what it was. This is not the first time these kind of lights have been seen over the city, as in February 2019, “a huge triangular UFO” with lights on each corner was witnessed slowly and silently gliding through Leicester.

On a Facebook post, Nigel Bailey wrote at the time: “I’ve just seen a huge triangle-shaped aircraft flying slowly over Leicester. I caught up with it in the car but lost it. I saw three helicopters flying around it at a higher altitude than the police helicopter flies around at.

“The triangle was so low that I could make out the shape and the three lights at each corner and it had strobes flashing down the sides.

“It was silent.”
