PLAYER RATINGS

-

KASPER SCHMEICHEL: His defence were so strong he had little to do, but came up with a huge reaction save to deny Son from a corner. Will need a lozenge for his throat given the instruction he bellowed out for 90 minutes 8/10

JAMES JUSTIN: The good form continues. Defended really strongly, played the right passes and stormed up the line to provide an out-ball. Played a superb long ball for the Maddison goal that wasn’t 8/10

WESLEY FOFANA: Headed away every long ball that came his way as Spurs bombarded the box late on. His positioning was fantastic, and while his passing decisions were not always right, he did not lose confidence 8/10

JONNY EVANS: Read the game superbly to intercept balls forward, while marshalling his team-mates well to ensure Spurs couldn’t break through. A few passes were aimless but nothing too concerning 8/10

TIMOTHY CASTAGNE: It’s great to have him back, particularly his energy to get forward, which helped free up Barnes. He was very strong in the air, too, although he gave away a few fouls 7/10

WILFRED NDIDI: Back in midfield and back to doing what he does best. Ndidi was a machine in the middle of the park to snuff out tens of Spurs’ forays forward with tackles and interceptions. Was composed on the ball, too. Fantastic 9/10

YOURI TIELEMANS: Again, got through so much work, making sure to support Ndidi at the base of midfield and help out his attacking team-mates as well. Played some delightful, disguised passes to catch out Spurs, though he should have scored 8/10

MARC ALBRIGHTON: Exceptional. Intercepted at the back countless times thanks to his work-rate, pressed well, dribbled with intent and then dropped the perfect cross on to Vardy’s head for the second goal 9/10

JAMES MADDISON: After an anonymous display in the week, Maddison was back at the heart of things here, showing excellent footwork in tight spaces and always offering himself to both the deeper midfielders and Vardy. A shame his well-taken goal was ruled out 8/10

HARVEY BARNES: Put Spurs on the back foot with his direct dribbling and his improving close control. Didn’t quite have the end product to go with it, though, and ran out of energy in the second half 7/10

JAMIE VARDY: Another fine all-around performance, battling Alderweireld and Dier in the air and on the ground to cause them havoc. Confidently slammed in his penalty and linked well with team-mates 9/10

SUBSTITUTES

DANIEL AMARTEY: Brought on when City were expecting pressure, and he helped them deal with it with some timely clearances 7/10

Dennis Praet: Ran hard for his few minutes on the pitch to keep Spurs penned back 6/10

KELECHI IHEANACHO: Showed a few nice touches at the death to keep the ball out of Spurs possession 6/10
