Christmas convoy spreads a little light relief for charity
NEARLY 200 TRACTORS TRUNDLE AROUND VILLAGES
NEARLY 200 tractors decorated in thousands of Christmas lights took to the roads in Leicestershire to spread a bit of festive cheer.
People cheered and clapped on the streets and on their doorsteps as the Christmas cavalcade made its way around Lutterworth and surrounding villages on Sunday evening. Starting at 4pm from Magna Park, the tractors headed around Lutterworth, towards Dunton Bassett and Broughton Astley, taking in Cosby and Countesthorpe before heading back to Lutterworth via some of the smaller villages.
Archers View Photography teamed up with Lutterworth Young Farmers to organise the charity tractor run.
Lutterworth Young Farmer secretary Mimi Baynes said: “It was amazing, I was lucky enough to catch a ride on one of them and it was an incredible, moving light show. The reaction from people was brilliant.
“Lots of people were clapping and cheering and that was the adults as well as all the children.
“It was lovely to be able to spread some Christmas cheer after such a terrible year.
“It was all to raise much-needed funds for the Leicestershire MS Therapy Centre, which provides therapy and support for people suffering from multiple sclerosis and similar illnesses by offering high dosage oxygen therapy.”
The fund, which is still open, set out with the target of raising £2,000, but by yesterday lunchtime more than 1,500 supporters had pushed it up to £19,213.
