New homes will come with boost for schools

DEVELOPER TO CONTRIBUTE MORE THAN £1M TO FACILITIES

SCHOOLS, health services and other facilities in a county village are to receive a £1 million-plus investment from a developer building an estate of 80 homes.

Miller Homes is contributing more than £600,000 to Desford Community Primary School and Bosworth Academy, with work under way on its Duke Fields development, in Barns Way, opposite the academy.

The money will enable both schools to extend facilities to accommodate an anticipated rise in pupil numbers as more families move into their catchment areas.

The company is also contributing more than £50,000 to the village’s medical centre and Ratby Surgery, while other funding for roads and open spaces takes the contribution past the £1 million mark.

A showhome is set to open at Duke Fields early in the new year, with the estate to be made up of a variety of one to five-bedroom properties.

Alastair Parsons, area sales director for Miller Homes Midlands, said: “When we bring a development to a community, it’s part of our responsibility to ensure that the services, infrastructure and facilities surrounding it can continue to serve existing residents and support new families moving to the area.

“Desford is an idyllic setting with the community right at its heart – it’s a great place to call home.

“We are really pleased that we are able to bring forward funds that will support care provision at local surgeries and ensure the schools teaching children from ages five to 18 in the area have the extra facilities needed.

“We are also providing funding to local highways and open spaces as part of the package, which exceeds £1 million.

“Our Dukes Field development will cater for first-time buyers, young families, couples and people looking for country living.”

Miller Homes was awarded a fivestar rating again as part of the National Home Builders Federation’s new home customer satisfaction survey last year.
