TRIBUTES have been paid to a “bright, sparkling” mum who was found dead at home aged 26, writes Adrian Troughton.

The family of Amanda Harding had to break the news to son Charlie, three, who thought she was asleep.

A GRIEVING father has paid tribute to his “bright and sparkling” 26-year-old daughter who was found dead at the home she shared with her infant son.

Scott Harding is heartbroken after his daughter Amanda was found dead at home in Melton while threeyear-old son Charlie was in his bedroom.

Scott, 49, said that Amanda was found when relatives went to her house on Saturday, December 12 to pick Charlie up so he could spend time with his father.

“The front door was open and they walked in and found Amanda in her bedroom,” he said.

“Charlie was in his room. The stairgate was up so he had not been able to wander out.

“Thankfully, he did not see anything. He just thought Mummy was still asleep.”

Scott said his daughter had had a long-standing medical condition and believes she had likely died of a perforated bowel.

“She was so bright and sparkling, so chirpy, so full of life,” he said.

“When people met her they were drawn to her by her childlike innocence and kind-heartedness. She was very special.”

Scott, of Ab Kettleby, said that her death had been very unexpected.

“She had suffered with a bowel condition and been in and out of hospital for years, but she coped,” he said.

“We had a long video call on Friday night (December 11) and we chatted about normal stuff, but she did complain of feeling unwell,” he said.

“She said she had called the GP who advised her that if she still felt bad on Monday to call them and they would see about her going into hospital.

“It’s difficult to deal with the fact that she’s not here any more. She had bought Charlie some Christmas presents that she will not see him open. It’s so cruel.”

Scott, who moved up from London with Amanda in 2007, said that

she had been a devoted mother.

“She adored Charlie and he adored her,” he said.

“He was her world. Charlie thought that his mummy was in a deep sleep but he has been told she won’t be coming back.

“I’m not sure if he grasps it. A friend has bought a star in Amanda’s name and he now thinks she is a star.

“It means we can look out for her in the sky while she looks down on us.”
