Your nominations matter as we seek exceptional carers
WHILE gifts, good food and great telly are a big part of many of our Christmas Day celebrations, the season of goodwill is also a chance to go the extra mile to show people that we care.
For many care professionals across the region, every single day offers the opportunity to enhance the lives of other people in Leicestershire, whether it’s the Season to be Jolly or otherwise.
That is why we are celebrating them at the LeicestershireLive Care Professional of the Year Awards.
The ceremony, set to take place on January 28, will highlight those who dedicate their time and careers to help better the lives of others across our region.
The awards ceremony will be accessible to more people than ever

For nine years, the Mercury, with our website, LeicestershireLive, has been championing the skilled, committed care professionals who stop at nothing in their mission to help.
If you know a care professional who deserves recognition for their work – whether they help you, someone you know or they are one of your colleagues – nominate them for one of our special awards.
Categories this year include the Dementia Care Professional of the Year, Best Newcomer to Care, Supporting Independence and Palliative Carer of the Year. The full list is in the panel on this page.
Inspired to Care and Leicestershire County Council are the headline sponsors of this year’s awards, and will be helping to choose the winners when nominations close on January 4.
Three finalists will be shortlisted within each category by a judging panel, with the winners announced at a virtual ceremony, to be streamed by LeicestershireLive on Thursday, January 28.
The live event, which is scheduled to take place at 7pm, will feature special guests and prize giveaways.
“Although coronavirus isn’t letting us celebrate these awards face-to-face this year, it will be available, free of charge, virtually, via a live stream,” said Sandy McMillan, assistant director of the council’s Adults and Communities department.
“This means the awards ceremony will be accessible to more people than ever, so you can celebrate whether you are a social care employer, employee or are someone who receives support.”
