DPD BUT NAME NOT DISCLOSED

AN UNNAMED “global online retailer” has taken on a 532,000 sq ft unit at the new 82-acre Hinckley Park industrial estate.

Developer IM Properties was asked by the Mercury who the retailer is, but a spokeswoman said they could not disclose the company’s name.

It will be next to the £150 million DPD super-hub which has become Europe’s largest automated parcel depot.

The company has another base in Burbage, in Logix Road.

Richard Lawrence, development director at IM Properties, said: “Being on the border of the East and West Midlands, the employment park has access to a wide, skilled labour force, which was one of the key deciding factors for the major distribution hubs currently on site and one of the reasons DPD located a second hub in the area.

“The scheme is also centrally positioned to benefit from the Midlands’ supply chain, with easy and quick access to a number of the UK’s major car manufacturing plants, making it ideal for creating bespoke facilities for suppliers operating just in time deliveries.”

The developer has said it will be setting up a regular bus service to the site and footways and cycle paths will connect it with Hinckley and Burbage. There are still bespoke buildings of up to 450,000 sq ft are available at Hinckley Park.

A roundabout entrance was recently finished for the huge business park, off the A5 near Hinckley Island hotel, next to Junction 1 of the M69.

Planners have said the project will deliver £47 million a year to the local economy when fully developed.
