AT just 24, Anya Taylor-Joy has already made quite the impression on Hollywood. From her breakthrough role in horror film The Witch, to her performances in hits like Split, Peaky Blinders and last year’s Emma remake, she consistently impresses the critics.
Most recently the Americanborn, Londonbased actress had us glued to Netflix with The Queen’s Gambit, where her acting talent was equalled only by her character’s fabulous Sixties wardrobe.
Off screen, the actress is also making a name for herself as a style icon in pieces by designers including Viktor & Rolf, Gucci, Elie Saab and Miu Miu.
For last week’s ‘virtual’ Golden Globes, where she picked up a best actress gong for playing chess prodigy Beth Harmon, Anya stunned in not one but two Dior gowns – one in ivory and a stunning plunging emerald green number. At Sunday’s Critics’ Choice awards, where she picked up another trophy, she was again clothed by the French fashion house, this time wearing a violet gown that took 200 hours to create.
Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri told Vogue that Anya “embodies the strength and fragility of a new generation of gifted actresses who are challenging the star system”.
And it is safe to say she has red carpet dressing in check.
