Keeper finding his voice in the Championship

ON-LOAN DANISH STAR IS WINNING RAVE REVIEWS

-

RISING Leicester City star Daniel Iversen believes he’s finally finding his voice as he continues to earn rave reviews on loan in the Championship, writes Andy Turner.

The 23-year-old Dane, who one day hopes to compete with and succeed his clubmate and compatriot Kasper Schmeichel in the Foxes first team, is currently making a name for himself at Preston North End.

Arriving at Deepdale in January as emergency cover for the injured Declan Rudd, Iversen has managed four clean sheets in his 12 games to date and already feels he’s improved, particularly one aspect of his game.

“I’m a really quiet guy outside of the pitch and when I was younger I was quiet on the pitch,” he told the Lancashire Post.

“I’m getting louder, I think that comes from playing games and experience.

“Coming to England to play, that was always something to build on.

“When you have played a lot more games you feel able to shout more and organise the players in front of you.”

Named man of the match against Bournemouth last weekend when he pulled off a string of decent saves in the first half of the 1-1 draw, he also caught the eye in the 3-0 home win against Huddersfield in the previous game.

The only blot on his impressive showings so far was when he hesitated for Millwall’s late winner last week.

“I came here to play games instead of being sat on the bench,” said Iversen.

“I just want to play football regularly.

“As a goalkeeper it can be difficult because if you don’t start, you don’t tend to play.

“It is not like being an outfield player where you can come on for the last half-hour in a game and show what you can do in that time.

“I’m enjoying it here, I’m happy. The good thing is that I’m playing matches.”

With two experienced keepers in front of him at the King Power Stadium, Iversen has already got half an eye on another loan move next season.

“I don’t know what will happen but hopefully I can go out on loan again,” he said.

“It won’t only be my decision but I do want to play football every week.”
