Butting in to save water

-

SEVERN Trent is encouraging customers to think ahead and start preparing for warmer weather by collecting rainwater in a water butt.

Doug Clarke, water resources manager for Severn Trent, said: “Not everyone makes the most of the rainwater falling in their garden. Then when warmer weather comes along, many of us use hose pipes to water our gardens and clean our cars, washing away thousands of litres of clean drinking water. To preserve our drinking water, we’re encouraging everyone who can to harvest rainwater.”

Monday, March 22 marks World Water Day, an annual opportunity to celebrate water and raise awareness of the 785 million people living without access to safe water around the world.

Doug added: “It’s easy to forget every aspect of our lives depends on water.”

Severn Trent is offering water butts at a subsidised cost.

A TRUST is celebrating after receiving the best staff survey results in its history – in a year where the NHS has been pushed to its limits fighting an international pandemic.

And in less than a week Midlands Partnership NHS Trust will also find out if it has won Health Service Journal’s mental health Trust of the year.

Each year, a national survey is conducted of all staff that gives them an opportunity to say how it feels to work in the NHS. Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust scored above average in all 10 themes while seeing statistically significant increases in all themes.

The themes include equality, diversity and inclusion; health and wellbeing; morale and team working.

Most of those who responded to the survey agreed that the organisation takes positive action on health and wellbeing.

Chief executive Neil Carr said: “This is a phenomenal achievement given the challenges of the last 12 months.

“I am incredibly proud that our staff have felt supported.

“Valued staff provide better care to the people they are looking after and that’s a fact.”
