Comments wanted on town plan
VILLAGERS are being given the opportunity to comment on a draft development plan.
The neighbourhood plan for Oakham and Barleythorpe sets out how they should be developed over the period to 2036 and has been prepared by Oakham Town Council and Barleythorpe Parish Council following consultation.
It includes policies covering design, affordable housing, the town centre and visitor economy, employment and business development and heritage and character.
Residents have until 5pm on Friday, April 23 to share their views before the plan goes to an independent examiner. lower among ex-offenders who are able to secure a job upon their release.
Sir Peter said: “Securing stable, meaningful employment can be a hugely beneficial step for people trying to turn their lives around and put criminal convictions behind them.
“However, it can prove difficult in many cases for people lacking the right training or skills.
“We want to make sure guidance, practical help and real hands-on experience is easily accessible.
“It will bring together resources to help both exoffenders and businesses which are able to offer them a helping hand on to the job ladder.
“I’m very grateful to the businesses and organisations across the city which have already shown an interest in supporting this work and, with the help of this DWP funding, we can take the next steps towards developing this initiative.”
The money will go to Leicester Employment Hub to work with a project team involving the probation service, charity Leicester
