The sun is out: And so are we

PARKS AND PLAYGROUNDS PACKED AS WEATHER HOTS UP

PARKS and playgrounds were packed yesterday as people went out to enjoy the sun.

With the Stay Home rule lifted across England, families and friends in Leicester got together at places including Spinney Hill Park and Abbey Park.

Lots were out enjoying ballgames, while children played on swings and climbing frames in the city’s playgrounds.

After a few gloomy days, there was plenty of sunshine, with temperatures rising to about 15C.

This week, golf clubs, tennis courts and outdoor pools were also open and organised outdoor team sports were able to resume for the first time since the beginning of January.

Weddings were allowed to begin again, but with the number of people attending limited to six.

The new rules for meeting up with other households or up to six individuals apply to both outdoor public places and gardens and other outdoor locations.

The rules no longer require people to stay at home but the government is still asking people to minimise travel and work from home where possible.

The government is hoping to lift further restrictions on April 12, when shops, hairdressers and other businesses will be able to reopen, outdoor drinking and dining will be allowed and gyms, zoos, theme parks and libraries will also be reopening.

Also on April 12, holidays in selfcatered accommodation in England will be allowed again and the number of people allowed at weddings will increase from six to 15.
