Owzat! Foxes unveil their kits to mark start of new season

OPENING COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH TODAY AGAINST HAMPSHIRE

-

LEICESTERSHIRE have unveiled their official 2021 kit across all three cricket formats as the County Championship got under way today.

In line with the club’s recent rebrand, the club’s traditional colours of green and red are featured in the T20 Vitality Blast shirts and Royal London Cup shirts respectively.

Meanwhile, the LV= County Championship shirt also includes a hint of red and green.

The unveiling came ahead of Leicestershire’s first Championship match against Hampshire, which was starting today at the Uptonsteel County Ground.

All age groups, both male and female, will wear the new kits to emphasise the unification of all the club’s players under the Leicestershire CCC brand.

Leicestershire CEO Sean Jarvis said: “It was really important to us to emphasise the club’s colours of green and red and we’ve certainly achieved that across all three kits.

“Our playing shirts form an extremely important part of our identity, therefore we wanted to continue to ensure all of our players from the women and girls, to the Academy and the first-team squad, were all wearing the same shirts with pride.”

The first team squad’s shirts feature the club’s principal sponsor, Uptonsteel, on the front, whereas, the women’s and girls’ shirts have long-standing club partner, De Montfort University.

For this season, the Academy shirts feature Melton Building Society on the front, after becoming a new official partner for 2021.

The kit was produced in conjunction with the club’s partner, Surridge Sport. Danny Vilia, sales director at Surridge Sport, said: “We have worked with LCCC to emphasise the club’s main colours and to once again unify all players across the club into one. We hope

the players wear the shirt with pride.”

Meanwhile, Leicestershire have announced the captain’s green blazer will be re-appearing at the toss.

Heading into his second season as club captain, Colin Ackermann has been working alongside Owen Scott Bespoke Tailors on a new, bespoke suit jacket that he will wear to all toss decisions before every 2021 fixture.

The blazer has, in line with the club’s recent re-brand, reverted to the history of Leicestershire CCC by changing its shade of green.

It will feature a gold running fox on its chest, along with “Captain

C.A” on the inside left. A gold running fox badge, supplied by Made by Cooper, will feature as a lapel pin and will accompany the two gold buttons in the centre of the jacket, and the three gold buttons on the sleeve.

The club’s nickname, Running Foxes, will also be included on the upturn of the neck collar.

The green jacket, complimented by its golden accents, has a white lining inside, around the collar and on the outside of the lapels.

Mr Jarvis, left, said: “For as long as I have known, captains have worn a club jacket out to the toss and that tradition had been somewhat left behind here at Leicestershire.”
