CURVE theatre has announced five shows which are coming soon to the city.

The government roadmap could see the Leicester theatre fully reopen on July 1, though plans are soon to be revealed for a socially distanced season of work from late May.

The programme includes Olivier award-winning Mischief, with Magic Goes Wrong, created with Penn and Teller.

Curve said the show follows a hapless gang of magicians who are staging an evening of grand illusion to raise cash for charity.

But as the magic turns to mayhem, accidents spiral out of control and so does their fund-raising target.

Having premiered in the West End, the production will head out on its first UK tour, playing at Curve from July 16 to 24.

The Made at Curve production of hit-musical Grease, staged at the theatre at Christmas 2016 and toured across the UK and Ireland in 2019, is set to open a new tour at the theatre on July 30 and 31.

Directed by Curve’s artistic director Nikolai Foster, choreographed by Arlene Phillips and with new orchestrations by Curve associate artist Sarah Travis, Peter Andre will once again join the cast as Teen Angel and Vince Fontaine for one night only, on Friday, July 30.

The musical Priscilla, Queen of the Desert returns to Curve from September 13 to 18, featuring dancefloor classics, including Hot Stuff, It’s Raining Men, I Will Survive, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and Finally.

Derren Brown returns to the stage with his first new live show in six years with Showman, at Curve from October 19 to 23.

From February 3 to 6, the theatre is host to The Osmonds: A New Musical.

Featuring a list of anthems including Love Me For A Reason, Crazy Horses and Puppy Love, the show tells the “official true story” of the five brothers from Utah who were pushed into the spotlight as children.

Audiences will be notified of Covid-safety measures and protocols in advance of attending a performance.

Tickets for Magic Goes Wrong, Grease, Priscilla, Derren Brown’s Showman and The Osmonds: A New Musical are now on sale to Curve friends, members and groups and go on general sale on Wednesday, at noon.

See the Curve website for details.
