A MUM has shared her story about a nightmare partner who has tormented her for six years, forcing her to flee to Leicestershire.

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, moved to the area from Luton after her controlling and abusive ex-boyfriend became more and more violent.

She had been with her partner for four years and had a child with him, but she knew she had to get away after police found out about the abuse and finally ended the relationship.

Her ex-boyfriend ended up in prison as a result of the way he treated her, but his campaign of abuse did not stop there.

The woman says he was able to contact people from prison who kidnapped their child and set fire to the house she was living in.

She also received multiple threats from her former partner telling her that he would kill her while her own children watched, as well as threatening other members of her family.

The woman said: “I have been fleeing a domestic violence situation with my ex-partner.

“I’m originally from Luton but moved to Leicestershire to get away from him.

“He is currently in prison, but he still causes problems for me despite being there.

“He has contacts on the outside and has actually got someone to set my house on fire before I moved to the area because he found out where I lived.

“I have been fleeing domestic violence for six years now. We were together for four years and he was fine at first.

“But my mum noticed things changing that I didn’t. I stopped seeing my mum, when I would normally see her all the time, I deleted my social media and I started cutting people out of my life because of him.

“When I ended things, I realised how abusive and controlling he was.

“But he had already started turning violent, leaving me in hospital after beating me up.

“I originally told the police it was a stranger that had done it, but the neighbours witnessed it and told them.

“I knew I had to get away from him. But after that, things became a lot worse. We’d had a child together, but when he found out I was pregnant again with a new partner, he sent me a letter threatening to kill me in front of my children.

“He has threatened my family, and he even admitted in court he would do whatever he could to make my life hell.

“I’ve got seven letters from him where he is threatening to kill me. He has even moved on himself –he has a new partner now – but he still wants to do nothing but ruin my life.

“One of the worst things he has ever done was sending people around to my mum’s house, where I was staying, who held me down and kidnapped our child while my mum could only watch.

“They were missing for eight hours until the police found them.

“They had to bring clean clothes and nappies with them because the people who took him just didn’t look after him.

To this day, I don’t know how or why he did that, other than to just hurt me.

“My mum and dad don’t know where I live any more. I don’t tell anyone. I cannot risk it. I am afraid that he will find out and send someone to hurt me and my children.

“He has threatened to have me beaten up, raped and even killed. I lived in constant fear.”

When she relocated to Leicestershire, she began having different problems – living in an unsafe house – which increased her fears of her children being at risk. She said: “I moved hours away from Luton to try to start again and be somewhere that he couldn’t get to me. I didn’t feel safe being in my home town any more.

“But the place I lived in had constant issues – the electrics didn’t work, the boiler didn’t work, the door was damaged and didn’t even have a peephole. I was too scared to open the door to anyone.

“You could have leaned on a window and it would have fallen out, it was in such a state of disrepair. “My solicitor contacted the landlord all the time to get things sorted or repaired and he moaned about it. “It was an unsafe place for me to live and raise my children, so I knew I had to move out. ”

The woman contacted Shelter Housing Aid and Research Project (Sharp), which gives homeless people, those at risk of homelessness and those in poor housing conditions advice and support in an attempt to find them a safe and secure place to live.

The woman said: “I contacted

Sharp in January and they immediately assigned a woman named Mara, who spoke with me at length about my situation and what they could do for me.

“I wanted to move out for the safety of myself and my children, but I was told I needed a guarantor, which was just impossible for me because of my situation.

“I even offered to pay extra rent each month to cover it, but they refused it.

“But I was very lucky to have been put on a guarantee scheme by the charity, which basically says they will cover my rent for an entire year if I am unable to pay it, meaning I could get a property with no issues.

“They then pushed the council to get all of the paperwork done as soon as possible, meaning I could leave the property I was in a lot quicker and ensure my children’s safety.

“I honestly can’t thank them enough. Mara worked tirelessly to help me out, and even when she was not available, the rest of the team did whatever they could to answer any questions I had.

“Being able to live somewhere safe with my children matters so much to me, and it’s only possible because of Sharp. I will always be grateful for what they have done.”

He has threatened my family, and he even admitted in court he would do whatever he could to make my life hell
