Music chat hits all of the right notes

Skunk Anansie’s Skin talks to legendary performers in this week’s round-up

- LAURA DAVIS

SKIN TINGS

“Just two musicians spilling the tea basically,” is how Skunk Anansie’s Skin describes her podcast – made up of the uncut versions of the interviews for her Absolute Radio show.

With the original conversations cut down to fit air time, she wanted to share the gems listeners were missing.

Just eight episodes in, she has already featured an incredible guests including Paul Weller, Debbie Harry and Joan Armatrading.

Weller talks about how his love of clothes started with his mum always being nicely dressed; Skin and Garbage’s Shirley Manson reminisce about being a woman in the 90s rock scene; and Armatrading reveals a childhood love for comedy that continues today.

If you spend more time scrolling on Netflix than you do watching, then this is the podcast for you.

Presenters Kobi Omenaka and Helen Sadler are joined by different guests each time to discuss a film that’s available on the streaming platform.

The nature of releases means the chat is often about an old favourite that it’s a pleasure to be reunited with – or you might discover a title that passed you by at its initial launch.

Clueless, Amy Heckerling’s 1995 transportation of Jane Austen’s Emma to an LA high school, gets a warm reception in episode 183. On all podcast apps or at flixwatcher.tv
