BRING SOME JOY INTO YOUR LIFE BY REHOMING A DOGS TRUST PET

- By PAIGE FRESHWATER

YOU’VE spent the last few months thinking about getting a dog and now you know you’ve decided to adopt and are ready to provide love and shelter to a rescue pooch.

We have found some lovely dogs who just want the love, care and attention they so deserve.

These handsome pooches are all living at the Dog’s Trust rescue centre in Loughborough, just 20 minutes away from Leicester by car.

The UK’s largest dog welfare charity has honed its virtual rehoming process throughout the pandemic, which it says has proved very successful in uniting pets and people.

If you’re ready to give up those Sunday lie-ins, pick up poo, walk your legs off and genuinely love a four-legged friend of your own, then Dogs Trust has a number of gorgeous dogs waiting for you to offer them a lovely home.

They are all currently residing at the centre at Hill Farm, Wide Lane.

BELLA

This is a five-year-old crossbreed who has a very sweet and sensitive soul. She can be a little nervous at first but once she trusts you, she has so much love to give.

She needs someone who has the time and patience to help her build confidence and needs a quiet home, where she settle with as few distractions as possible. Due to her insecurities, she is looking for a home in a quieter, more rural area with a family who can be with her most of the time. She would also love a secure garden for off-lead time.

JUNO

Juno is searching for a quiet rural home where she can overcome some of her insecurities. She needs patient and understanding owners who can help her to build confidence and learn the world is not such a scary place.

She can live with children over 15 and must have a similar size dog for company.

WILF

This German shepherd pup needs a home with people who will understand his training needs, be sensible around him and won’t leave him for too long. He needs a family who can take time to train him with positive reinforcement-based methods to help him to grow in confidence.

He enjoys the company of other dogs on walks but would prefer to be the only dog in the home.

TIPSY

Sometimes dogs just find kennel life too difficult and that is certainly true for this pretty three-year-old border collie.

She’s being fostered until she can find a permanent home. She needs a family who will respect her space and give her the love and support she needs to settle so her true personality can shine through.

With that in mind, she’s hoping to

find a home with two adults where she can play with her toys, spend time in the garden and sit close to you when her confidence grows.

CABRA

This two-year-old greyhound is a former racer who wants a happy, peaceful life surrounded by squeaky toys and food.

The Dogs Trust says: “Cabra can be a little worried around other dogs and has probably not had much chance to socialise, so a home able to take him on quiet walks and slowly introduce him to other dogs would be beneficial. He would also need a family who will be around for most of the day.”

DOLLY

This little beauty is quite happy to be

at home on her own for a bit – as long as she’s had a good walk first!

She’s very sweet and clever and needs a family who will keep her stimulated but also let her relax too. Dolly is an intelligent dog who is looking for an active family willing to keep her stimulated and help her learn to relax and enjoy her new life.

FRANKIE

This adorable 18-month greyhound has never lived at home with a family. He’s quiet and gentle and would need someone who understands how to build his confidence gradually.

You would need to be patient and understanding as it may take him a bit longer to settle in. You would need to be prepared to visit the centre multiple times to meet Frankie

and potentially have one or two home visits.

LEO

Six-year-old Leo loves to learn and finds the easiest way to make friends is with food.

He enjoys socialising with dogs on a lead and loves his walks but he is still a little nervous around people so would need a quiet home with no children. He is a bit sensitive to loud noises too so a peaceful home is top on his list of priorities.

SUNNY

Sunny is a bright and active German shepherd looking for an adult only home in which he can build a bond with his new family and build his confidence.

He can be worried around unfaleft

miliar people so a home with no visitors and quiet rural walks is essential.

ROSIE

Rosie’s favourite things are toys, food, enrichment, fuss and zoomies! She is just one so has plenty to learn but she has bundles of personality and enthusiasm.

She’s very popular at the rescue centre and The Dog’s Trust says: “She has so much love to give and would be a beautiful addition to a family with interest or experience in positive reinforcement-based training.”

RUE

Collies are typically intelligent, handsome and sensitive - and gorgeous Rue is no exception.

Rue, six, is looking for patient owners who are going to help him slowly adjust to the sights and sounds that come with living in a home environment.

It will take a few meets here at the centre for Rue to get to know you, but the love and excitement he provides you once he does, will make it all worthwhile.
