College’s direct link into employment for students
BUSINESSES are working with a college to find talented individuals to join their teams as the economy starts to recover from the pandemic.
North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College is advertising around two dozen vacancies based in the county for businesses looking to recruit apprentices in accounting, hairdressing, logistics, engineering, retail and hospitality in Leicester, Loughborough, Coalville and beyond.
Recruitment drives are under way at companies including Narborough’s Regent Engineers, which is looking for a quality support/inspections apprentice; the Insomnia cafe in Market Harborough, which is keen to train a barista; UK Property Finance in Kibworth Harcourt, which has a vacancy for a marketing assistant; and construction supplies business Stressline in Stoney Stanton, which wants to recruit an admin assistant.
Katy Urwin, the college’s director for apprenticeships, said: “Forecasts suggest the UK economy will grow by more than eight per cent this year, before returning to pre-pandemic levels of around six per cent in 2022.
“This is supported by the number of new vacancies we are being asked to help fill and represents a fantastic way for people of all ages to kickstart new careers and retrain in growth sectors after a challenging period.
“We know that the impact of the pandemic has been felt more strongly by younger workers and that is why we are pleased to be working with organisations across the region who are looking for fresh, new talent to support their recovery and growth.
“NWSLC is in a great position to make links between organisations that need skills and individuals looking for work.
“It is our mission to introduce skilled and work-ready individuals to employers across the region.”
