POLICE officers looking for a stolen trailer ended up discovering two stolen cars and a caravan on a very successful night.

The Road Policing Unit with Leicestershire Police were out looking for a trailer that was reported stolen in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The trailer was quickly located and returned to the owner within the hour, but this was not where the success ended.

Having found and recovered the trailer, officers then noticed and recovered two stolen cars and a stolen caravan at the same site.

Not only that, but a car then returned to the location, while police were still at the scene, full of stolen catalytic converters, all in one incredibly productive night for the region’s road policing team.

The officers uploaded the find to their Twitter feed, using photographs from their drone cameras, which were being used to help find the missing trailer.

The tweet read: “An absolutely fantastic result tonight. A trailer was reported stolen and it was located and returned to the owner within the hour!

“Great teamwork by #DroneTeam @LeicsResponse @LPSpecialOps #ARV… but that was just the start of the great results. There was more to come!

“Having recovered the trailer, we then recovered two stolen cars and a stolen caravan! But then there’s the best bit! A car returns to the location full of stolen catalytic converters! Whoops! Obviously didn’t get the message that we were visiting!” Police have issued warnings about catalytic converter theft in the past, being targeted by thieves due to the high-value metals they are made with. You can find out more about catalytic converter theft on the police’s website.

SUCCESSFUL NIGHT FOR OFFICERS
