Jimenez congratulated on his comeback from fractured skull

-

WOLVES striker Raul Jimenez has revealed Leicester City players congratulated him on his comeback from injury during Saturday’s match at the King Power Stadium, writes Amie Wilson.

The Mexican made his first appearance for Wolves’ first team since suffering a fractured skull in a game against Arsenal in November 2020.

Jimenez, who wore protective headgear, has since opened up on the seriousness of the injury.

“They told me it was like a miracle to be there,” he told the media.

“[There was] the skull fracture, the bone broke and there was a little bit of bleeding inside the brain.

“It was pushing my brain to the inside and that is why the surgery had to be quick.

“It was a really good job by the doctors.”

The Wolves man has spent the last eight months recovering, and the reaction of the City players including Jamie Vardy, Caglar Soyuncu and James Maddison made his comeback even more memorable.

“It was really good to be back again,” said Jimenez.

“I remember at a corner Vardy came to me to congratulate me, and Soyuncu and Maddison and most of the other Leicester players came to me in different parts of the game too. I felt really good about that.

“They said they were really happy to see me back on the pitch, that it was an honour to be there playing with me in my first match back.”

Jimenez will take on former boss Nuno Espirito Santo in his second game back when Wolves host Tottenham on Sunday, while City travel to the London Stadium to face West Ham United on Monday night.
