A SALON group which says it is at the forefront of ethical hairdressing is coming to Leicester.

Butchers Salon, which is opening its first branch outside of London in Stoneygate, will ensure a tree is planted for every customer visit.

Founded by Susannah Ricardson and Katie Knox in Hackney in 2014, Butchers now has three locations across London.

Butchers Leicester will be owned by stylist Lisa Jane Massey, who has worked for the group for the past four years.

Lisa said Butchers Salon group is aware that the hair industry has an environmental impact. To address this, there will be a green team leader on the salon floor and the business will take steps to reduce waste and improve its carbon footprint.

She said Butchers Leicester will work with

Green Salon Collective and First Mile for all recycling, including hair, foil and chemicals to ensure less harmful waste.

Working with Tree Sisters Official to plant a tree for every customer visit to off-set energy used during the appointment, the goal is to become carbon neutral by 2023.

Butchers Leicester will offer a selection of beauty treatments from Sam’s Beauty Den.

A spokesman for Butchers said: “Every visit to Butchers is an experience. With a philosophy to enhance confidence and wellness, every guest is warmly welcomed.

“Butchers is proud to be a gender-neutral salon with gender-neutral pricing.”

The salon is set to open in Allandale Road next month.
