From ballets and ballads to Rotten evening with the bad boy of punk
VENUE READY FOR AUDIENCES, SHOWS AGAIN
LOUGHBOROUGH Town Hall is preparing to welcome back audiences with an autumn season packed with live music, dance, comedy and drama.
It kicked off this weekend with Leicestershire’s very own Showaddywaddy performing their hits, such as Under The Moon of Love and Pretty Little Angel Eyes, on Saturday.
The live music continues with award-winning jazz vocalist Clare Teal and Her Sextet on Saturday, October 2, Alistair McGowan’s The Piano Show – a mix of comedy and classical music – on Thursday, October 14, the longest-running musical theatre tour, Beyond the Barricade, on Friday, October 15, as well as The Story of Guitar Heroes, a musical transportation through time, on Thursday, October 21.
Comedy lovers will be able to enjoy Russell Kane on September 9 and 10, the legendary Jasper Carrott on September 14 and 15, Andy Parsons’ Healing the Nation tour on Wednesday, September 22, and Rich Hall’s Hoedown Deluxe on Friday, October 22.
There’s also Simon Amstell’s Spirit Hole on Wednesday, October 27, Henning Wehn on Saturday, October 30 and Omid Djalili’s The Good Time’s Tour on Tuesday, November 9.
There is plenty for tribute fans, with Freddie Mercury and Queen tribute band Mercury, on Sunday, September 12, The Luther Vandross Celebration on Friday, September 17, Hello Again, The Story of Neil Diamond on Sunday, September 26, The Elvis Years, The Story of the King on Friday, October 29 and You Win Again, Celebrating the Music of the
Bee Gees, on Thursday, November 4. Always a favourite in the Loughborough Town Hall calendar, Autumn’s An Evening With… programme returns with a star-studded selection of performers including best-selling author Joanna Trollope on Tuesday, September 21, an illustrated examination of our fascination with murder with historian Lucy Worsley on Wednesday, September 29, ex-Sex Pistol Johnny Rotten, AKA John Lydon, on Friday, November 5, and Thunder’s Danny and Luke on Monday, November 8.
Theatre fans can enjoy performances including the ESNA Player’s Betty Blue Eyes from October 5 to 8, this year’s traditional Loughborough Town Hall Pantomime, Aladdin from Saturday, November 20 to Sunday, January 2, 2022, and Victorian Voices at Christmas featuring two of the era’s best loved tales, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.
Local performers CTC will present their production of the all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza that is Shrek The Musical from January 25 to 29, 2022.
Other highlights include Fair 800, an exhibition celebrating Loughborough Fair’s 800th anniversary from October 14 to November 18, The Greatest Show, an evening of song, dance, dining, magic and performance including songs from musicals including The Greatest Showman on Sunday, October 31, while Strictly Come Dancing stars Ian Waite and Vincent Simone come to Loughborough for an evening of old-fashioned variety, dance, comedy and song on Monday, November 1.
The dancing continues on Sunday, November 7 with the Russian National Ballet’s performance of Swan Lake, renowned as the greatest of the romantic ballets. Other events to look forward to include the Sock Christmas Arts and Crafts Fair on Sunday, November 21, and the return of the Literature at Lunchtime lectures by Dr Jane Mackay each month from Tuesday, September 28.
