NOTTINGHAM

On-loan winger Joe Browning played the full 80 minutes in a thrilling 36-26 win over Ampthill.

There were also Championsh­ip debuts for scrum-half Sam Edwards and prop Tim Hoyt who both got valuable minutes off the bench.

The Nottingham try scorers included two for Charlie Thacker, an ex-academy player and brother of Harry.

There were two tries and a man of the match performanc­e from David Williams who has spent time with Tigers over the past two seasons.

LOUGHBOROU­GH STUDENTS

Loughborou­gh Students got their second win of the season in the National League 2 North with a 29-24 win over Hull Ionians.

The match featured Jack Rowntree, son of club legend Graham, who played the full 80 minutes and crossed for a try.

Captain and ex-academy player Henri Lavin scored a try with another ex-academy fly-half Charlie Titcombe scoring nine points from the tee.

There was also game time for developmen­t prop Seb Smith for the Loughborou­gh Students second team.

They played a pre-season fixture against Blackheath, coming out on top 29-17.

COVENTRY

Coventry got off to a winning start in their opening Championsh­ip game, defeating Doncaster 39-22.

The match included Tigers’ on-loan winger Sam AsplandRob­inson who played the full 80 minutes.

Recent summer signing Dan Richardson got 30 minutes off the bench, coming on when the Butts Park Arena side were seven points

down.

JERSEY REDS

Although there was no place for on-loan Harry Simmons among the 23 in the 48-7 victory over London Scottish, there was a hat-trick from ex-Tigers fans’ favourite Guy Thompson, left, on his return to the Championsh­ip side. For London Scottish, captain on the day was Brian Tuilagi, son of Freddie, while among the replacemen­ts there was another ex-academy player in Javiah Pohe.
