Barn, new-build and opulent Home compete for title
COUNTRYSIDE HOMES IN THE RUNNING FOR SMALL RESIDENTIAL SCHEME OF THE YEAR 2020-21
THREE countryside homes are in the running for the Small Residential Scheme of the Year prize in the 202021 ProCon Leicestershire property and construction awards.
The finalists for the award are an opulent home near Houghton on the Hill, a converted barn in Rutland and a carbon neutral newbuild in North West Leicestershire.
The category is one of eight in this year’s ProCon Awards.
The ProCon Awards’ overall sponsors are Salus Approved Inspectors, Unique Window Systems, Vistry Partnerships and Gateley Legal.
The Leicester Mercury is the Awards’ media partner.
The Small Residential Scheme of the Year finalists are:
Forest View, Belton, submitted by Peter Crichton
Forest View is a newbuild house that was designed to need minimal maintenance and to be carbon neutral.
The four-bedroom home was also designed to be suitable for family members during their senior years.
The site was part of a large, landscaped garden and the building’s design matches its rural environment and its location in North West Leicestershire.
Opulence House, Houghton on the
Hill, submitted by Design Studio Architects
Built on the site of a derelict bungalow, Opulence House is a large family dwelling which captures great views of the Leicestershire countryside.
The 6,000 square feet of residential space and outbuildings includes a triple garage, plus a swimming pool.
Inside, there are open-plan living, kitchen and dining spaces, cinema rooms, games rooms and a vaulted landing.
The property also boasts an outdoor kitchen and entertainment area.
The Barn, Belton-in-Rutland, submitted by BRP Architects
The Barn is a bespoke dwelling created from a former agricultural barn.
The project also included a new garage block, plant room and swimming pool.
It was designed to protect views of the rolling Rutland countryside, using natural materials to make a strong but subtle architectural statement.
There are five bedrooms, three reception rooms, a study and gym within the form of the original barn.
The winner will be announced at a
ceremony at Leicester’s King Power Stadium on November 11.
The other seven awards are: Infrastructure Project of the Year, sponsored by Charles Henry & Sons; Regeneration Project of the Year;
Medium Residential Scheme of the Year;
Large Residential Scheme of the Year;
Small Non-residential Scheme of the Year;
Property Deal of the Year. Further details about the Awards are on the ProCon website at: procon-leicestershire.co.uk/procon-awards Companies keen to attend the ceremony or to inquire about sponsorship opportunities can contact Allyson Jeffrey on 0116 278 1443 or:
