Plea to oppose housing as plans resubmitted

-

PLANS have been filed for 90 homes in Market Bosworth, even though 100 new houses are already planned for the town.

Developer Gladman has resubmitted a scheme to develop greenfield land off Shenton Lane, south of the town cemetery.

The original application led to several complaints from residents who felt the village didn’t have the amenities to support it – and it was then turned down by councillors who were worried about the impact it would have on the open countryside.

A resident has urged others to show their opposition to the resubmitted plans on the Market Bosworth News Facebook page.

They wrote: “We need your help and support as this is a new application by the same developer and previous objections will not count.

“Help save our rural community from overdevelopment.”

A planning application was also recently filed for 105 homes on land to the south of Station Road.

The nearby Kyngs Golf and Country Club is also set to reopen soon, as plans are in place for a new clubhouse and holiday accommodation complex.

The golf course was bought by developer Statue Homes in 2016, who are to build a centre with a shop and bar area, while car parking on site will be expanded by more than 100 spaces.

The clubhouse will include changing rooms, dining areas, a golf simulator and a function room, which will be used for weddings and other events throughout the year.

Councillors turned down a scheme for an estate of 63 homes along the road that leads up to the clubhouse in May, over concerns it would harm the appearance of the area.
