Tasty deals on a plate for the city’s first-ever restaurant week

less than a fortnight to go until the inaugural Leicester Restaurant Week begins, the venues that have signed up so far and the offers that will be available have been announced.

The event, which takes place from Monday, October 18, until Sunday, October 24, aims to shine a spotlight on some of the best restaurant­s in the city.

Participat­ing eateries will showcase a specially selected, limited edition menu, or get creative and offer something new and exclusive, to customers during the week.

Here are some of the deals and venues already confirmed:

Orton’s Brasserie, a contempora­ry venue serving classic British dishes, in Orton Square, will showcase a different food and drink pairing each evening, from beer and a burger to venison and a glass of wine.

Bodega Cantina, a Mexican restaurant, in St Martin’s Square, will be offering two street food items and two cocktails for £20.

At Dama Rose, an Arabic coffee house and deli, in Granby Street, you will be able to try an Arabic-style afternoon tea for two for £20.

The Rutland and Derby, a pub, in Millstone Lane, will give diners the chance to enjoy a Street Food Collective tasting board for £14.

Mowgli, an Indian streetfood restaurant, in St Martin’s Square, will have a sharing menu available for £19.50.

At Sonrisa, an Argentinia­n restaurant and bar, in St Martin’s, near St Martin’s Square, you’ll be able to choose three small plates for £20 from a specially-curated menu.

The Parcel Yard, a pub next door to Leicester Railway Station, in London Road, will give you the chance to enjoy any beer and any burger from the menu for £15.

Chutney Ivy, an Indian restaurant, in Halford Street; The Queen of Bradgate, a pub in High Street; Middleton’s, a steakhouse and grill, in St Martin’s; 1573, a bar and grill in Highcross; The Globe pub in Silver Street; Knight and Garter, a gastropub, in Hotel Street; and Prana, a vegan cafe, in Horsefair Street, are all offering set menus for two or three courses.

St Martin’s Coffee Shop, a cafe, in St Martin’s Square, has a half-term offer with two sandwiches and two kids’ meals for £20.

Orso, a coffee shop, in Market Place, is offering any food item from the menu, any coffee or tea and a glass of juice for £10.

It’s an amazing opportunit­y both for Orton’s Brasserie and other venues in the city to show diners what Leicester hospitalit­y truly has to offer. We look forward to welcoming people in to our restaurant throughout the week and showcasing some of the amazing food our team has created.”

The event has been organised by BID Leicester. Director Simon Jenner said: “Our aim with the first Leicester Restaurant Week is to showcase as many of our fantastic eateries as possible and it’s been encouragin­g to hear the positive feedback that we’ve had so far – as well as seeing so many great, oneweek-only offers coming through.

“The event will give locals and visitors alike the opportunit­y to try somewhere new or an excuse to head back to their favourite dining spot.”
