To fatally injured bike rider

-

TRIBUTES have been paid to a motorcyclist who died following a crash at the weekend.

Flowers and messages of condolence have been left in Hall Lane, Whitwick, where Sonny Norfolk was critically injured in a collision with a van on Saturday afternoon.

Police were called to the scene just after 2.15pm and Mr Norfolk, who was in his 20s, was taken to hospital. He died the same day.

The tributes have been left next to a tree close to the site of the collision, along with a large pile of flowers.

One bouquet of flowers has a card addressing Mr Norfolk by his first name and saying he would be missed by many people.

The message reads: “Never thought I’d be writing this, Sonny. You have received your wings far too early, babe.

“You were one in a million and will never be forgotten. Fly high, Sonny, you will be missed by many. Always in my heart.”

Tributes were also paid online, including on a Coalville Facebook group’s post about the crash.

One poster wrote: “He was a beautiful lad. I’m heartbroken.”

Another said: “He was such a nice lad. It was never dull when Sonny was around. We’re all going to miss you so much.”

A police spokesman said Mr Norfolk was involved in a collision with a red Vauxhall Astra van.

He said: “Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle beforehand.

“They would also urge anyone who has video recording equipment installed in their vehicles to check the footage and get in touch if they captured anything.

“From inquiries done so far it’s believed a silver estate vehicle was driving along Hall Lane minutes before the collision and the occupants of that vehicle may have seen what happened.

“If you recall seeing anything or if this was you, please contact us.”
