Obnoxious dad groped woman at a bingo hall
‘VILE, DISGUSTING AND INSULTING’ SEXUAL ASSAULT WHILE DRUNK
A “DISGUSTING, vile, insulting and obnoxious” dad groped a woman at a bingo hall.
Nilabdeen Jamaldeen was “clearly intoxicated” and asked to leave Beacon Bingo, in Loughborough’s Baxter Gate, due to aggressive behaviour.
But on the way out he grabbed one woman’s breasts and made outrageous sexual remarks to another, Leicester Crown Court was told.
Kaja Reiff-Musgrove, prosecuting, said the defendant was on his way out when he stopped and grabbed the wrist of a woman and squeezed it and, as she attempted to back away, he assaulted her.
The prosecutor said: “He was calling her beautiful while doing that.
“He then began using abusive language towards others.”
The 48-year-old defendant made a sexual suggestion to another woman, while attempting to undo his trousers.
The police were alerted and staff locked the premises to detain him. He caused damage to a door trying to get out.
Jamaldeen, of Nottingham Road, Loughborough, admitted sexual assault, common assault, threatening behaviour and damaging a door, on September 5 last year.
Claire Fraser, mitigating, said: “He has little recollection of what took place and deeply regrets what happened.
“He’s not the sort of person who would normally act in such a way – he was intoxicated.
“He’s married with an 11-year-old daughter, who lives with his wife in Sri Lanka.”
Miss Fraser said the defendant worked in a fast food takeaway and regularly sent money back home to support his family.
Judge Keith Raynor told him: “You were very drunk and this was disgraceful behaviour.
“If you see the news, you’ll know women are often reporting sexual assaults. Men must learn to respect women at all times.
“You behaved in a disgusting, vile, insulting and an obnoxious manner.
“You grabbed the first victim by the wrist and, in a most horrible way, sexually assaulted her. You then spoke to another person in a disgraceful way. It was outrageous.”
He said he accepted the defendant had one previous conviction, for a public order matter in 2019, and that he acted out of character.
Jamaldeen was given a 21-week jail sentence, suspended for 18 months, with 100 hours of unpaid work.
He was ordered to pay the sexual assault victim £400 compensation and £150 towards prosecution costs.
